3. The Plan

The issue at hand.
Online college students lacked the ability to easily connect with each other like an in-person student could.
The Goal.
Allow online college students to match based on college, major, and reason for wanting a partner.
Target Audience and Personas

Persona Jake: Jake is an Online college student who needs assistance with his homework because the material is unfamiliar to him and the professor can’t always be there to answer questions.
I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand the users I’m
designing for and their needs. A primary user group identified was online community college students. Research
also revealed that online students feel that they would benefit from having connections with other students for the reasons of increasing productivity and creating new friends with similar interests.
The Plan.
Paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, iterating on designs, determining information architecture, and responsive design.
Wireframing.

Looking Ahead.
Users will find using this app to be helpful and intuitive with a fun illustration style format to provoke the feelings of friendliness and making connection.
Creating a website prototype and converting it to a mobile form is not as simple as I originally assumed it to be. Moving forward I plan to make designs keeping mobile and desktop users in mind from the start.
